Hi All!

Here is your weekly dose of TEJI, a weekly round up of what I’m pondering and exploring. Feel free to forward along to a friend if you think they might enjoy.

A great podcast with a digital nomad

Lex Fridman is one of my favourite podcasters. His show is very focused on tech and the future of humanity. In his most recent episode he brought on Pieter Levels a digital nomad soloprenuer who famously created 12 mini startups in 12 months. It’s a fantastic episode about his latest pivot into building AI apps completely by himself and his views on travel, minimalism and entrepreneurship. I felt inspired hearing about how an individual with no team can build and manage many successful projects at once at a much faster pace than entire companies that are often slowed down due to bureaucracy. The episode is over three hours long and I listened to it in its entirety over the span of a few days because I was so interested in the conversation. Feel free to check it out below on YouTube or listen on Spotify.

Prepare yourself for The New Internet

By now we’ve all seen the power of generative AI which is only getting better and better as each day goes by. I don’t know where this is going to go other than us losing the ability to judge what is real or fake online. It’s now more important than ever before to take everything at face value and understand that truth online is unfortunately deteriorating. This doesn’t mean nothing on the internet is true but it does mean we need to develop our critical thinking capabilities if we want to not get psyopped into believing misinformation. I know that I’ve yapped on about thinking for yourself in this newsletter all year long but I really do believe this will become one of the most important skills to develop for the rest of our lives. That is if you want to live a self directed life.

Just do it.

A few weeks ago my friend Noah a fellow creator drove all the way to Western Australia in hopes of going to UFC 305. He had no tickets and had no idea how he was going to watch the fight. Regardless, he believed it would work out and he’d figure out how to get into the event.

He ended up going to a public press conference a few days prior to the fight. During the press conference one of the fighters on the main card Israel Adesanya told the audience he was going to give away 2x VIP tickets to someone in the crowd with the best question.

Of course, Noah ended up asking the last question which you can watch here where he asked probably the stupidest yet funniest question out of everyone at the venue before winning the 2x VIP ringside tickets after making Adesanya laugh.

I know things like this might seem small but I really genuinely believe if you put yourself in situations where you want certain events to happen. The universe will bring exactly what you need to execute on your vision. So, if there’s anything that’s in your heart that you want to do. Please follow that and trust that things will work out.

My favourite chocolate right now

This might be really random as I’m a super advocate for clean eating and sobriety but I thought I’d share my guilty pleasure with you all. Currently my favourite chocolate I’ve been eating for the past few months has been Coconut Rough by Cadbury. I have also been enjoying Whittakers Coconut Block but I’ve pivoted to Cadbury since it’s way cheaper than the famous New Zealand chocolate. I don’t know why I feel the need to share this with you other than to give you an insight into some other little obscure facts about what I get up to.

Also if you don’t refrigerate your chocolate, your fucking crazy. If it isn’t cold I don’t want it.

How I’m reading two 1000 page books at once

I’ve almost finished reading Infinite Jest and Game of Thrones. Two starkly different books that compliment one another. You see, Infinite Jest is a heavy book about addiction and substance abuse whereas we all know Game of Thrones is about swords and sex.

Now, the reason why I’ve paired Game of Thrones with Infinite Jest is because sometimes if I read Infinite Jest before bed it will ruin my sleep because it’s so fucked up. Whereas if I read Game of Thrones it’s much more calming and helps put me to bed.

Lately I’ve made it a point to develop my daily reading habit by reading just a little bit each day. Although this takes longer it’s helping me not burn out when reading long books that I can often get bored of. By alternating between two books that stimulate different parts of my brain it helps me kill two birds with one stone and ensure my habit continues to crystallise.

Over the years I’ve learnt how important balance is when it comes to developing a holistic understanding of the world. By reading books that are often considered high brow (books for snobby cunts who think their better than everyone else because they read books people think are too boring) along with books that are low brow (books that are often very simple, easy to understand and usually very popular with the masses) it helps develop this sense of roundedness to your reading habit and character.

It’s the same as when one of my old Scottish footy trainers named Andy told me he completely fucked up his back because he trained his chest too much. Since he neglected his back in favour of the front an imbalance begun to develop that put him in hospital. Which is the exact reason why I try to cultivate this balance and probably why I told you about my silly little favourite chocolate I enjoy eating every now and again, even though it’s packed to the brim of sugar and often gives me the most fucked headaches like 10 minutes after I’m done.

Feel free to give me feedback on Twitter. What did you like? What do you want more of? What do you want less of? Other suggestions? Please let me know. Just send a tweet to @TEJITOPIA and put #TEJITUESDAYS at the end so I can find it.

Hope everyone enjoys their week!

Love
